This is the way, walk in it!
The story of our travels as the Lord directs. Read the account of places and people visited and Christian service we perform.
We are very excited! Several times we've mentioned a RV ministry we were interested in joining. Last week our request was approved and we are now part of an RV missionary service organization named RVICS, Inc.
Let me share this from their website:
Imagine! A retirement rich in travel and adventure, challenge and inspiration, purpose and satisfaction! You can find all this in a missionary service organization called RVICS (pronounced R-VICS). Perhaps you have not been called to serve the Lord in darkest Africa or minister to a primitive tribe in the South American jungle, but see if you can picture yourself as a Roving Volunteer in Christ's Service.
RVICS is a non-denominational Christian organization for couples with a heart to serve the Lord during their retirement years. Teams of up to 6 couples provide a wide variety of maintenance, service, and construction assistance to needy non-profit Christian children's homes, schools, colleges, camps, conference centers, and churches. Each work project is 3-1/2 to 4 weeks long, scheduled in warmer climates during the winter months, and cooler locations the remainder of the year. Members are encouraged to serve a minimum of 3 projects, or up to 8 or 9 projects a year, January through November, with a 3-to-4-week Christmas furlough. Summer projects are scheduled for those who can serve at that time.
Couples live in their own RV's, with the project host providing parking sites with electricity, water, and sewer, free of charge. Working hours provide generous time for recreation and relaxation.
Perhaps RVICS is just the retirement plan you have been looking for!
"Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others,
faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms." 1 Peter 4:10
We now are preparing to leave Oregon and return to Florida via Wyoming. Our first project assignment will be in September-November. Prior to that both of us need to finish up some doctors visits and other chores before setting out on the Lord's business.
We aren't sure yet what our assignments will be. We've requested to be assigned to a project in Pennsylvania in September, Kentucky in October and Alabama in November. That's now in RVICS and God's hands.
As we continue traveling and servicing on projects we will continue keeping you all up to date with description and photos right here on TurnRightorLeft.com.
For now, we ask that you continue to keep us in prayer as we travel and now for our work He has set out for us in RVICS. We feel blessed and honored to be in His service.
If you are retired (or near retirement), have an RV, are a born again follower of Christ and want to continue serving the Lord you might check out RVICS yourself. You can find them at http://www.rvics.com.
May God's love and blessings shower down on each of you,
Nick & Boo
